BEEKEEPERS STUNG BY THEFT OF HIVES AND 120,000 BEES

The West's beekeeping community has been stung by a spate of thefts which has seen three hives stolen from three different locations in Devon.
The latest victims, Richard and Janet Copping, of East Anstey, were just preparing to harvest their honey when three of their four hives - complete with around 40,000 bees each - were snatched this month.
Suspicion among the friendly community of North Devon beekeepers has been heightened by the possibility that the culprit could be one of their own. A witnesses to the theft of the Coppings' hives saw two people dressed in full beekeepers suits carrying the hives away.
